Crypto gaming, also called Web3 gaming, has captured significant interest from gaming enthusiasts, investors, and those passionate about cryptocurrency. By merging features of Web2 technology, crypto games serve as a means of bridging the gap between Web2 and Web3, thereby facilitating the transition of more mainstream users into the next gaming stage.
MixMob is a recently announced partner of MSV.GG and Morningstar Ventures portfolio company aims to bridge web2 and web3 by building the world’s first card strategy racing game on the Solana ecosystem. This month's review will delve deep into MixMob, its tokenomics, flagship Racer 1 Game, and recent partnerships. The review will end with an analysis and the project’s roadmap.
What is MixMob - Gameplay, Tokenomics, and NFTs
MixMob offers a crypto gaming ecosystem where players can compete for cryptocurrency by engaging in intense gameplay and reinvesting their winnings. This creates an attractive environment for more participants and benefits token holders. The game Racer 1 is the central feature of MixMob. This hybrid racing card battle strategy game combines the excitement of Mario Kart's racing experience with the tactical card-based strategy and resource management elements of Clash Royale.
MixMob is founded on three essential principles: racing, raiding, and remixing. Racing enthusiasts seeking adrenaline can focus on MixBot Racers, where they fine-tune their MixBots for a competitive edge or challenge opponents on the Surface. Players preferring strategy can level up their MixBots through Surface raiding, gaining power and valuable rewards.
Gameplay and Turbo Arenas
Players can sign up for MixMob's incentivized open Beta through their Google or Discord accounts and generate an in-game wallet for purchases without needing a crypto wallet. The game offers free-play (PvE Free to Play) and Arenas (PvP Paid or Free to Play) versions, with no payment for free PVP mode. Players can choose their card deck, which includes offensive, defensive, and remix abilities, and using them effectively during races is key to standing out from other players. While SUD$ purchases are necessary to enter the paid PVP mode, Racer 1 is not NFT or token-gated, so players don't need SUD$ or a mask to access and play the game. The Turbo Arenas feature of MixMob allows for an economy within the game where players can either invest or buy SUD$ or $MXM to join. These arenas are created to resemble liquidity pools and generate income through entrance fees and betting, promoting long-term viability while giving players more chances to participate.
Within the Turbo Arenas, there are several ways users can spend and invest their tokens:
- Turbo Arenas Racing
- Betting in Turbo Arenas
- Sweepstakes & Staking
- Referrals & Customization
Tokenomics
As a cryptocurrency gaming ecosystem, MixMob provides a platform where players can engage in competitive activities to earn cryptocurrencies, subsequently reinvesting their winnings to increase profits. This dynamic attracts a growing player base, ultimately benefiting token holders.
MixMob operates through two tokens: $MXM and SUD$ (pronounced SUDS). The $MXM token serves as the governance token, empowering users to manage the league, incentivize players, purchase premium items, participate in Turbo Arenas, and explore various DeFi methods to augment their earnings. On the other hand, SUD$ acts as the in-game currency, allowing players to accumulate winnings, acquire items, and engage in various gameplay mechanics throughout their gaming experience.
Players who are not interested in playing the game can still participate in MixMob by holding these tokens for several reasons:
- Revenue Sharing: Earn a portion of the revenues generated by MixMob.
- Referral Rewards: Bring new players into your Arenas and earn SUD$ and MXM.
- Governance: Influence the future and regulations of the League, Turbo Arena, and Crews.

NFTs
In December 2021, MixMob generated 5,000 Gen0 masks, each minted for 2 SOL and exclusively available on Magic Eden. To maintain fairness, participants were restricted to minting 1 Mask per wallet during the Presale and 2 Masks per wallet during the Public sale. Currently, there are 1,596 unique holders. The Gen0 Masks from MixMob function as distinctive player identities within the MixMob universe, evolving alongside players' progress. These adaptable NFTs integrate 2D and 3D art, sketches, stickers, and cultural references seamlessly. Beyond their unique aesthetic, Gen0 Masks offer diverse utilities within the MixMob universe.
Fundraising and Partnerships
The project undoubtedly has its fair share of industry experts – the MixMob team comprises veteran gaming developers who have worked on renowned games and gaming consoles, including Halo, Nintendo, FiFA, PokerStars, Disney, Battlefield, and Xbox. In February 2022, MixMob raised $7 million in funding in a round led by Defiance Capital. Other significant investors include Ascensive Assets and Not3lau Capital, Solana Ventures, Morningstar Ventures, as well as individual investors Kieran Warwick from Illuvium, Loi Lui from Kyber, and Danish Chaudhry, the CEO and founder of FMFW.io.
Current MSV.GG Partnership
MixMob is a partner of MSV.GG and the teams have been working closely on user testing the game's beta version via direct user feedback from MSV.GG members. The objective of the partnership is to:
- Utilize acquisition strategies during their Incentivised Beta phase, which is currently active.
- Conduct outreach and awareness campaigns for the upcoming MixBot Sale, which will take place in mid-November (the exact date has yet to be confirmed).
- Attract a substantial user base and create significant momentum leading to their token launch.
The partnership will implement various phases to achieve these objectives, including AMAs on the 6th of December.
During the initiative, the two teams will work in sets of sprints where they will complete the following steps:
Sprint 1:
- Engage in PvP mode gameplay to enhance player liquidity and enable our members to join the leaderboard.
- Identify and report bugs while suggesting opportunities for improvement.
Sprint 2:
- Develop original content, including tutorials, onboarding materials, strategy guides, and informative posts related to the project.
Sprint 3:
- Coordinate with the team to align with their content and marketing strategy, supporting its amplification through social media interactions and promotion within MSV.GG and our partner communities.
Analysis:
Strengths:
- MixMob employs a dual-token system featuring $MXM and SUD$, enabling individuals to engage with the MixMob ecosystem without actively participating in the game due to their distinct utilities. Additionally, the unique betting and staking features in the game's Arenas, facilitated through an in-game liquidity protocol, set it apart from other gaming platforms, providing players with meaningful interactions.
- Following the launch of its NFT collection, MixMob achieved a sell-out of its official resistance masks and customizable NFTs, serving as distinct player identifiers within the MixMob ecosystem. These digital masks offer exclusive benefits such as access to specialized Discord channels and early airdrop privileges. Furthermore, all NFT holders automatically become members of the MixMob DAO, contributing to establishing a robust community ahead of the game's official release and generating a sizable user base for testing phases.
- MixMob boasts a formidable team of seasoned professionals in both gaming and web3. With extensive experience in renowned entities within the gaming and multimedia industry, the team possesses a wealth of knowledge and expertise, comprehending the intricacies of player dynamics and staying attuned to emerging gaming trends.
Challenges:
- MixMob, casual games face stiff competition in both web2 and web3 studios. Distinguishing itself from other games is crucial for the success of the game. While the game incorporates user-friendly elements, its primary target audience consists of crypto natives and individuals with a strong affinity for cryptocurrency. The game should consider incorporating more web-friendly features to enhance its mainstream appeal.
What's Next for MixMob
The team plans to continue testing the game's beta version in the months ahead, offering incentives through player engagement, tournaments, and focus groups. Registration is open to all interested participants through the website. Looking forward, MixMob aims to broaden its scope to accommodate ten-player races, introduce more intricate card complexities, leverage AI for enhanced game content creation, explore cross-chain compatibility, and establish decentralized Turbo Arenas.
